This surgery operates on an appointment system as well as walk-in. We encourage patients to book appointments to see their preferred doctors but in case of urgent or unpredicted medical conditions we accept walk-in patients.
If you require a long consultation, please let the reception staff know when booking your appointment. Every effort will be made to accommodate your preferred time.
If you require an interpreter please let us know so that we may arrange for one.

However, on occasion we do close early, in which case we recommend that you please ring CALMS on 1300 422 567 for an appointment (costs involved) or go to the Emergency Department at Calvary Hospital or The Canberra Hospital or ring Health Direct triage service on 1800 022 222 (no charge).
Home visits are available for regular patients of Gungahlin Medical Practice who cannot attend the surgery due to an ongoing medical condition.

For repeat prescription we request that you make an appointment to see your regular doctor.
In cases of urgent need our doctors will provide you a prescription with no repeat for your regular medication only without a consultation. A small administration fee is charged for this service, for which there is no Medicare rebate. This service is only for our regular patients. We encourage you to come to see your GP at your earliest convenient time.
*Note: This service is not for pain medication or sleeping tablets etc, you must see a GP in order to request such scripts.
Medicare does not allow backdated referrals. Referrals written without a consultation may incur a small administration fee. Otherwise we recommend that you please book for an appointment with your regular doctor.
Medical Certificates are a legal document. It is illegal to back date medical certificates and they will only be issued for genuine medical conditions that require time off from work or study. To obtain a medical certificate you must have a consultation with a doctor.
A small fee may be charged for replacement medical certificates.
Our practice has a recall system for patients undergoing clinical investigations. We only call patients for life threatening abnormal results. We expect patients will make their follow up visits to discuss investigation reports.

The practice also has a reminder system in place where letters will be sent to patients to remind them of pap smear due, review of care plans etc. with a request they ring the practice to make an appointment.
